For Fall

Mon Sep 14, 2009, 6:23 PM
Even though it's technically summer still, once september comes around I feel justified in wearing three layers of clothing and making stew, so, I shall consider it fall. Not that I don't do either of those things in August or July, I just feel less silly about it now.

This time of year I read books I've already read. Kind of like playing HarvestMoon in the spring, and starting Final Fantasy Tactics over (again) in the summer...

Ah, and the fair as well. The Eastern States Expo. Every year. We always do the same things: get a potato from the Maine building, and cider from Vermont, then fried dough, tempura, ice lemonade, and roast beef sandwiches from the stands, topped off with hamburgers from the White Hut stall and a healthy ten minutes in the alpaca products section of the better living center. This is all in one day, and we feel rather ill by the end of it. But it's tradition, which is code for an infallible excuse to do and eat pretty much anything.

This is also a good time of year for sleep, because the weather is cool and it rains often. Ideal really...

For Summer

Yes...more season-based updates. Why fight it? Heh.

ConnectiCon! It was quite awesome this year, again. We finished our costumes just in time, and we met up with a group of fellow Fire Emblem cosplayers!! Also awesome (their costumes were). They let me join their skit for the masquerade 0.0 I loved their skit, it was very hard not to laugh on stage (no...I did laugh...) They won fan favorite!

So now I'm back in the country, eating litchi gummies non-stop, marveling at the bizarre tomato forest that climbed another three inches since I last saw it. Perhaps I will get some writing done now -.- Yes, peace and quiet.

  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: background TV
  • Reading: 1/2 prince
  • Playing: FE rekka no ken
  • Eating: litchi gummies
  • Drinking: ginger peach tea

End of Spring

Thu Jun 11, 2009, 6:58 AM
All of my seedlings are in the ground now :) I feel accomplished. Somehow. Even though there are only...maybe 15 plants (chamomile, sage, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red peppers)...it's nice to see them all growing (<--simple minded)

I finally found Rekka no Ken (at a GameStop)! I love this game, though "infatuated with this game" may be more accurate...really...It's kind of harder than the newer fire emblem games, you can't just buy stuff whenever you need it, and there are terrain and weather affects too. But I like that, and the story is good too. <3

...there are lots of cats in our yard.

  • Reading: Canterbury Tales
  • Playing: FE rekka no ken

  • Drinking: ginseng tea with lemon and honey ^^

For Spring

It's come to my attention that I spend an inordinate amount of time talking about the weather...does that make me a young old-woman???

Spring seems to have finally arrived (<--still gonna talk about the weather). The finches are turning yellow, they're so cute when they're in between colours, they look green ^^ Hmm. Our garden is behind the gardens downtown (because we're in the mountains?) Our daffodils are just starting to bloom, and the magnolia tree is still very sleepy. Ah, but the andromedas are blooming! I love those...they're in a stiff competition with mountain laurels for my favorite. The chives have fled the herb garden, again. I wonder if the birds are to blame? They keep coming up around the bird bath...

Yes, Harvest Moon 64, I always want to play at this time of year (strange?).

Looking forward to ConnectiCon! It's in August, but, it's the only one I'm going to, so, I can't wait! My cosplay is coming along, slowly, but it's getting there. It'll be finished by August at least. But the boots I got suddenly have these little claw marks in them, the deep irreparable kind. I'd be terribly angry with my cat if he wasn't so disarmingly adorable...

  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: Creed - Higher
  • Reading: various manga :P
  • Watching: CNN (it's rather depressing...)
  • Playing: Harvest Moon 64
  • Eating: can't decide -.-
  • Drinking: geen tea

More Sleep

Mon Mar 9, 2009, 9:58 AM
Mother Nature hit the snooze button on Spring. The few remaining signs of Winter were battling the sixty degree temperatures over the weekend, and today, monday, it's snowing! Not to mention freezing, all the pleasant air in the house is gone. Gone gone gone...

I've been working on something inspired by winter though, despite the recent Spring-ness, so maybe I can finish today?

In other news, I finally restarted FFXII. I couldn't remember what I was supposed to be doing, because I haven't played in so long. I'm determined (determined!) to be less "on task" this time around, gotta look around and talk to all those NPCs.

All the while waiting for FFXIII series to be released (2010???). I need to stop spending all of my money on cons and save for PS3 first though (save!)

  • Mood: Optimism
  • Listening to: nothing at the moment
  • Reading: Reconciliation
  • Watching: Strange travel channel food thing...
  • Playing: FFXII
  • Eating: super tasty baked pear <3
  • Drinking: lemon grass tea (smells like Pledge...)
